Improving the Quantum Efficiency of van der Waals III-nitride Quantum Dots

Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) attract extensive interest for emerging applications such as quantum computing, quantum encryption and energy harvesting. However, epitaxial semiconductor QDs are covalently/ionically registered to the lattice of substrate, with their properties susceptible to two-dimensional wetting layers and substrate dislocations, which severely reduces the luminescence quantum efficiency.
