POWER Great Lakes: Promoting Offshore Wind Energy Research in the Great Lakes

The offshore wind energy potential in the Great Lakes is much larger than the New England, Middle Atlantic, South Atlantic and California regions. The majority of such resources are above deep water, which is critical to meet Biden Administration’s goal of $15GW of installed floating offshore wind by 2035. A multidisciplinary team is formed to investigate the unique technical challenges, economic viability and socio-environmental constraints to unlock the floating offshore wind energy in the Great Lakes.
