High-Definition Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Human Gastrointestinal Tract


Over 60 million people in the United States alone suffer from digestive diseases and the personal and economic costs these diseases produce. Although gastrointestinal symptoms are distressingly common, clinical tools for diagnostic evaluation are currently inadequate. This project aims to develop a novel magnetic resonance imaging method to image and characterize the anatomy and function of the human gastrointestinal tract with unprecedentedly high resolution, speed, and specificity. Once developed, this imaging method will transform the current ability to advance the understanding, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of digestive diseases.
